Being Supportive
YWCA has created 41 units of affordable and supportive housing for women who have experienced chronic homelessness and domestic abuse. These bright and beautiful apartments provide a safe, secure and fully- furnished home that are much needed in our region. YWCA continues to add critical housing for women in Kitchener-Waterloo. Get involved by donating directly to their campaign or helping to furnish their apartments.
The YWCA of Kitchener-Waterloo is one of the region’s oldest and largest nonprofit organizations. A strong advocate for women’s issues, it runs programs to help women in this region experiencing economic instability, mental health issues, and housing insecurity.
That last issue is where we’ve made our largest contribution. Since 2019, the number of women experiencing homelessness and on the waitlist for YWCA support has nearly doubled. So when the organization built two much-needed buildings offering dozens of women and families supportive housing, we were proud to help furnish—helping turn housing into homes.
This region flourishes when organizations like the YWCA receive consistent support, so our affiliation is ongoing. We gladly sponsor YWCA activities and events, such as the talks it hosts at the Walper Hotel. We recognize that it’s not only the participants in YWCA programs that benefit, it’s all of us.
