Building Opportunities, Building Community
97 Victoria has long been a gathering place for those experiencing homelessness or are street-involved. Every month, more than 1,000 people visit St. John’s Kitchen, where they can receive a free, hot, nutritious meal, access to showers and washrooms, or take advantage of laundry, health, and other services.

We’ve partnered with The Working Centre, BNKC Architects, and Govan Brown to expand and reimagine 97 Victoria. The result is forty-four new units of supportive housing, a new St. John’s Kitchen facility, more opportunities for work and engagement, and a shared courtyard that creates a campus-like experience.

We led by example, and in addition to leading the development efforts of the project pro bono, we kickstarted the private fundraising effort by donating $1.0 million dollars. No community thrives without taking care of its most vulnerable members. As 97 Victoria rises, so does the entire Kitchener-Waterloo region.
